Creative Factory

The Creative Factory (Creatieve Fabriek) is an old factory in my hometown that has been restored and now settles the offices of multiple young entrepreneurs and creatives but also hosts several cultural events. In short, it is the Westergasfabriek of Amsterdam and really the current flagship of Hengelo. The similarities with the Westergasfabriek are promoted & embraced and that is not strange since the the purpose of the creative factory was long needed in this city. With the academy of arts in the neighboring town, Twente has lots of creatives who needed a fitting place to think, produce & create. I never visited the place, but since my brothers are in search of their own workspace (they have a company where you can design your own furniture www.jemeubelopmaat.nl), they had a look. They told me about the great industrial vibe and that I had to take some pictures. So I did, on a sunny afternoon, I visited the place together with my mum. See & Enjoy!

Skrei

If you ask me, there is no better way then to spend your free day together with friends; cooking, chatting and drinking loads of wine. This week, I had such a day. I went to Marqt, this amazing organic supermarket where you can find local and all organic good quality food.  After having some wine and beers in a skinny late March sunlight, we decided to head up to marqt and spoil ourselves with some skrei. Skrei is the name for a cod between January and April, when the fish swims from the Barentszzee to Norway to spawn. Skrei comes from Skrida, a word the Vikings used for travelling. We combined the skrei with a risotto with fennel, sugar snaps and peas. The skrei was marinated with lemon zest, dairy butter and mint. To keep us from snacking all the food, we started with a delicious black pepper sausage, from the famous Dutch sausage makers Brandt & Levie.

Beanie

Last weekend was already the opening for the festival season for me with the DGTL festival on the NDSM wharf. Unfortunately, I expected it to be at bit warmer by now. It still is winter and no spring yet, so I had to adapt my outfit a bit. Instead of the usual shorts and sunglasses, I now had to change to  my skiing socks, gloves and a beanie. Luckily, the fun wasn't any less; we danced until the final end!

Superfoods

Superfood is a general word for all kinds of food that contents lots of vitamins, minerals, proteins, unsaturated fats and so on. Basically, the food is more healthy and keeps you full for a longer time. But more important: it is delicious. Superfoods that I like are for instance salmon, mackerel, nuts & seeds, pomegranate, hummus, avocado, broccoli, coconut and anything else healthy & delicious that you can think of! Today I started my lazy Monday with quinoa. Quinoa has a grain like texture with a nutty flavor. You cook it for about 15 minutes and it is great to use in salads but also goes perfect as breakfast. I cooked the quinoa in almond milk and added raspberries and roasted almond to it. De-li-ci-ous. Happy easter!

Zipped

I love the rock look you see in all the collections right now. Lots of black, leather, snake designs, army boots and firm denim fabrics. I combined a shiny snake pattern with some show off combat boots and a zipped jacket: all with the raw edge to it which I like!

Jeans & Furry

I went for serious shopping in Stockholm and ended up finding this great sheep-fur-like vest and a damaged boyfriend jeans I was in search of for a long time. I like the rocky vibe of the sheepy vest and the damaged jeans makes it even more edgy. I've added some high heels to make it more feminine.
