Rusty Visits

Yesterday, I visited Roest, which calls itself a creative haven, a city oasis. When you think of it, you could name the whole of Amsterdam a creative haven, but Roest really stands out in that matter. In the middle of nowhere, but still the heart of the city, Roest has situated itself in an area where there used to be only industry. Since the city of Amsterdam is focusing on revibrating areas that are old and neglected, Roest is a welcome initiative. Roest exists out of two buildings, one part is the bar/restaurant where you can get drinks and food. Of course in a unconventional way; you grab a shopping cart, and get what you need in their little "supermarket". Don't expect a yummy sandwich made for you, it is a help-yourself concept, so you can make it yummy yourself with help from some hummus, cheese or other ingredients. After you have paid you can plump into one of the chesterfields or a even in an airplane seat if you like. Or head outside to sit at one the tables made of old construction materials. When sunny, you could even sit at the (city)beach. Next door, there is an old warehouse where Roest sometimes throw parties and this weekend organized the Warehouse Weekender Market, full of design, vintage, art and food. Roest is a must see for anyone who likes to flee away from busy Amsterdam city and appreciates art, vintage and somewhat surprising initiatives. Hope to see you there soon!

Stockholm du är bra

Glum or Sad, that is how I feel about the end of my trip to Stockholm. The city is vacker, beautiful. The old buildings reflect beautiful in the clear waters. The city is clean, the people are very friendly and the food is healthy & delicious (more about that in a separate blogpost, coming soon!). Gamla Stan is where you want to be to wander around in romantic, colorful streets. Sodermalm to meet the arty vibe of the Swedish and look around in vintage clothing and old record storesÖstermalm to meet the young professionals for cool (and expensive!) drinks! And let's not forget about the beautiful museums where you can warm up, treat yourself on a delicious lunch and see the most beautiful collections. My favourite? The breathtaking photo collections in Fotografiska.
See & Enjoy!

Really Really Nice Place

This week, I went to this really really nice place. No really, that is the name of a new brunch cafe in the lovely typical Amsterdam neigbourhood, the Jordaan. At G&T's Really Really Nice Place (that is their exact name), you can have brunch every Saturday en Sunday starting from 10.30 am until 16.00 pm. Apart from that, they are also a bar, sometimes an exhibition place, a movie theatre and occasionally throw a party. G&T just does anything they like that is fun and brings you gezelligheid. And you can see that. Everything they do is fun. Please have yourself an Ibiza salad with quinoa, sweet potato, mint, parsley, avocado, feta and toasted pumpkin seeds. Or have one of their marvelous (non)alcoholic cocktails. The food is great, the drinks are even better. So if you like art and a surprising unconventional surrounding, then visit G&T to relax on a big couch, chill at the bar or sit down in the red movietheater seats. And have yourself a wonderful Sat/Sunday.
