Visiting Durgerdam

A friend of mine just moved to Durgerdam, a tiny village just outside of Amsterdam. Last Sunday, she celebrated her birthday in the backyard of this cute house at the lake. Durgerdam only exists out of one street, with one bar and a Landmark instead of an Albert Heijn to do your groceries. But it is a beautiful village where you want to go for a look over the water to the passing boats. Or cycle down the village, meanwhile enjoying the colored houses. Durgerdam is the place were you can see the horizon, something which is unthinkable in the city of Amsterdam. So if you want to flee away from the busy city, Durgerdam is the place to be. With about 40 minutes cycling from the city centre, it is a nice Sunday afternoon break.
