Sometimes, you just don't have anything to wear. Even when your closet is so full and all the clothes pile out. Your room is one big mess of skirts, shirts, sweaters & jeans. You sit down, in the middle of your messy self and look around hopelessly. That is when my roomie came in, saw the mess and handed me over her sweater that I just adore. My roomie and her aztec h&m sweater had just saved my day!

Really Really Nice Place

This week, I went to this really really nice place. No really, that is the name of a new brunch cafe in the lovely typical Amsterdam neigbourhood, the Jordaan. At G&T's Really Really Nice Place (that is their exact name), you can have brunch every Saturday en Sunday starting from 10.30 am until 16.00 pm. Apart from that, they are also a bar, sometimes an exhibition place, a movie theatre and occasionally throw a party. G&T just does anything they like that is fun and brings you gezelligheid. And you can see that. Everything they do is fun. Please have yourself an Ibiza salad with quinoa, sweet potato, mint, parsley, avocado, feta and toasted pumpkin seeds. Or have one of their marvelous (non)alcoholic cocktails. The food is great, the drinks are even better. So if you like art and a surprising unconventional surrounding, then visit G&T to relax on a big couch, chill at the bar or sit down in the red movietheater seats. And have yourself a wonderful Sat/Sunday.

COTTONCAKE

Almost every Saturday, I go for lunch with a friend. It is just my treat of the week and Amsterdam has so many original, beautiful and healthy lunchspots that every Saturday again, it is hard to choose. Since I live in the neighourhood the Pijp, I love to go for a walk over the Albert Cuyp market, get some groceries, do some shopping and have a bite to eat. My absolute favourite #1 spot to have lunch in the Pijp is Cottoncake. It is a concept where fashion, art, design and food come together. The girls who started this lovely place, just put everything in their shop they like, from shoes and lingerie to books, olive oil and plaids. And the food is a-ma-zing. Please try the quinoa salad with pumpkin and almonds with a ginger tea. Or the homemade coco, cranberry and nut granola with a chai latte. One word: lovely.

Mercat

Mercat is a new Spanish restaurant in Amsterdam that was inspired by the Spanish Markets. The Spanish Markets are to many topchefs a temple of gastronomy, especially with their large collection of local, fresh ingredients. 
Mercat in Amsterdam also works with local, fresh ingredients and is, just like a market, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can have the well-know Spanish sweet churro's for breakfast, a bocadillo for lunch and a paella or tapas with some cava for dinner. The atmosphere is very industrial, but also very open and culinair, with an open bar an small windows to the kitchen from where extraordinary scents come in.

Leather and Furry

I already have four leather pants in my closet. I just love them, it is perfect in the Dutch rain and it really fits my style, I love the edgy rock look of it. Good to combine this with something more accessible like a big, furry cardigan. I add my wooden cross to make it a bit more fun. You don't need to take yourself too seriously ;) Have a nice day!

 

Eating and Drinking the Winelands

Eating and drinking, that is what the South African's are pro's in. When we went for a complete day (!) of wine tasting, we visited 4 wine farms around Stellenbosch and Franschoek. It was so delicious! One bummer that I've now created a way too expensive taste. We had a great lunch at the beautiful La Petite Ferme. To top this fantastic day off, my boyfriend took me for a birthday dinner at The Tasting Room, for a 7-course, molecular, very very tasty dinner <3
