I never visited Williamsburg before, but wow how un-American and beautiful it is. Is has a whole different atmosphere you can't even compare to Manhattan. It is slightly more European, arty, more approachable and quiet. Where Manhattan has the energizing, dynamic atmosphere (really as if you step into a Hollywood movie), Williamsburg is more relaxed. I visited Williamsburg by night and wandered around the streets, surprising myself about the cozy family houses and large backyards with laundry hanging up. During the day, I hung out at record stores, vintage shops, peeked into the book shelves at second-hand bookshops and enjoyed the Flea Market together with all the hipsters. Williamsburg is the great escape of Manhattan.
